Susan Morgan has 15 years of experience in managing and counseling technology businesses and private companies. Susan was the co-founder and CEO of SoftView, the company that produced MacInTax, the income tax program for the Macintosh. MacInTax experienced rapid growth and achieved a position of market leadership in its segment. SoftView was subsequently acquired by ChipSoft, and then Intuit, who currently markets the software as TurboTax.
Susan also co-founded and is currently the CEO of Equilytics, a software and services company. Equilytics’ flagship product, MergeComp, computes and models the waterfall distributions of proceeds, in the event of a merger or financing, to security holders of private companies with complex and multi-layered capitalization structures.
In addition to her business management background, Susan has many years of experience as an attorney, including 7 years at Fenwick & West, LLP, where she specialized in venture financing, and merger and acquisition transactions for private companies.
Additionally, Susan has taught courses at Golden Gate University and John F. Kennedy University on business law and startups. Susan has been a Guest Lecturer for several years at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, Entrepreneurship Program (lecturing on Start-up and Corporate Transactions and Intellectual Property Protection). She has also lectured extensively on legal issues to a variety of organizations, including Astia, the Technology Venture Corporation, Software Developers’ Forum and the East Bay Innovation Group.
Susan graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of California at Los Angeles (“UCLA”), where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Psychology; and then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology at UCLA. Susan subsequently graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law (J.D.), where she was awarded an Emory Law Scholarship and served as Vice-President and a Director of the Santa Clara University Intellectual Property Association. Susan is a member of the California Bar.
